Elementary School Assembly
I was the project manager for this community project in which my group designed and carried out our own project working with the Dairy Council of Utah/Nevada. We decided to plan a kickoff assembly to implement one of the Dairy Council's programs, Fuel Up to Play 60, into an elementary school in Springville, Utah. This program helps students implement healthy lifestyle changes into their personal lives and schools. We reached 750 students at the school as well as faculty and parents. Almost 100 students signed up online for the program and made a pledge to be healthy.
My Responsibilities
I coordinated efforts between the Dairy Council, the former NFL player we invited to the assembly, a parent at the school, the school principal, and my group. In addition to planning meetings, delegating responsibilities, making decisions, and taking care that everything went smoothly, I was involved with the writing, revising, and reviewing, of all parts of the mock grant proposal that my group created for this project. At the end of the grant proposal, we attached a Gaant timeline chart and logic model for the project as well as a lesson plan for the assembly. I also created the handout to give to parents after the assembly and helped create the bulletin board to teach the students about healthy foods and ways to be active.
