Utah Valley Regional Medical Center (Oct - Dec 2013)
I spent six weeks at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. It is a Level II trauma center with over 350 beds. I spent three weeks with a dietitian on the floor, one with the NICU and outpatient dietitians, one with the diabetes educator, and one in the ICU. I learned about MNT for a variety of diseases and gained an overview of clinical dietetics in various aspects of care. I did a case study on a trauma patient who had experienced a recent gastric bypass surgery. I presented this case study to my professors and other students.
